Incubator Appeal

Help give the smallest babies the strongest start

At Buscot Neonatal Unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, some of the smallest and most vulnerable babies begin their lives needing specialist care.

Babies born too soon, or with serious health conditions, often need help to survive those critical early days and weeks. For many, an incubator becomes their safe space – keeping them warm, protected and closely monitored while they grow stronger.

Royal Berks Charity is raising vital funds to help purchase new, state-of-the-art incubators for Buscot. This specialist equipment gives neonatal teams the technology they need to provide the very best care for premature and seriously unwell babies, while also supporting parents through one of the most frightening times of their lives.

Modern incubators do far more than provide warmth. They help create a carefully controlled environment where babies can rest, grow and receive the treatment they need. They also make it easier for clinical teams to care for babies safely, while giving families precious moments of closeness and connection.

Your support can help make this possible.

Every donation, no matter the size, will bring us closer to ensuring babies at Buscot have access to the equipment they need when they need it most.

Conor’s story

When Conor was born at just 27 weeks, life changed in an instant for his family.

Instead of taking their newborn baby home, Conor’s parents found themselves beside an incubator in Buscot Neonatal Unit – surrounded by wires, machines and the constant uncertainty of neonatal care.

For 92 days, Buscot became their world.

Conor’s incubator helped keep him safe, warm and protected while his tiny body grew stronger. It gave the clinical team the access and technology they needed to care for him, and it gave his family hope during the most difficult moments.

There were surgeries, setbacks and days filled with worry. But there were also small victories – tiny movements, quiet milestones and precious moments of connection. Throughout it all, the Buscot team was there, caring not only for Conor, but for his family too.

Today, Conor’s story is one of strength, resilience and hope. It is also a powerful reminder of just how important specialist neonatal equipment is for babies who need the very best start in life.
