About the role
Royal Berks Charity funds equipment, projects and improvements that enhance the care and experience of patients, families and staff across the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Our RBC Action Team is a friendly group of flexible volunteers who help us deliver events, raise funds and increase awareness of our work. From marathons and community fairs to supermarket collections and special events, there are plenty of different ways to get involved.
You can volunteer when it suits you, with no expectation that you attend every opportunity.
What you’ll be doing
Activities will vary throughout the year and may include:
- Marshalling, cheering or providing practical support at fundraising events.
- Helping with event preparation, set-up, welcoming guests and packing away.
- Supporting collections at supermarkets, festivals and community events.
- Representing Royal Berks Charity at local fairs, concerts, sporting events and other activities.
- Displaying posters or distributing approved promotional materials.
- Supporting occasional office or administrative tasks.
- Sharing approved charity campaigns through your own networks or social media, if you are comfortable doing so.
- Helping with other appropriate tasks that arise during an event.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need previous fundraising or events experience. We’re looking for people who are:
- Friendly, positive and welcoming.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Comfortable working as part of a team.
- Willing to follow instructions and event-safety guidance.
- Flexible and happy to help with a range of activities.
- Enthusiastic about supporting their local NHS charity.
Some activities may involve standing, walking, working outdoors or moving equipment. We’ll explain the practical requirements before each opportunity and discuss any adjustments or support you may need.
How much time will I need to give?
This is a flexible, ad-hoc role. You might volunteer for a few hours every few months—or more often if you wish.
We’ll contact you by email or telephone when suitable opportunities become available. You can choose which ones you would like to support.
What we’ll provide
Royal Berks Charity will provide:
- A full charity induction.
- A briefing and support for each activity.
- Guidance, equipment and event information where required.
- Ongoing support from the charity team.
- Reimbursement of agreed expenses in line with our volunteer expenses policy.
- Opportunities to use your existing skills and develop new ones.

Complete and submit our Volunteer Application Form. You’ll then be invited to an informal interview. If successful, we’ll contact your referees and arrange your induction before you begin volunteering.
